Connect PoE / WiFi Network Camera to AView App

Quick Start: Connect to AView Mobile App for Network Camera

1. Overview

This document provides the standard procedure for adding a network camera to the AView mobile application in a standalone (non-NVR) operating environment. Two hardware variants are covered:
  1. PoE (Power over Ethernet) Camera – connected via Ethernet cable with PoE switch/injector or DC12V adapter.
  2. WiFi Camera – connected wirelessly to your home/office network.
All procedures assume the camera is in factory default state or has been reset to DHCP mode. The AView app communicates with the camera via the P2P (Peer‑to‑Peer) protocol – no port forwarding or DDNS is required.
Alert
Time‑Sensitive Constraint: The P2P pairing window is 15 minutes from the moment the camera is powered on. If not completed within this interval, reboot the camera to restart the timer.

2. Common Prerequisites

Regardless of camera type, the following conditions must be met:
Requirement
Details
AView App
Installed from Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Mobile Device
iOS 12+ or Android 8.0+. Wi-Fi and camera permissions granted to AView.
Camera Power
Camera must be powered on
QR Code
The unique camera QR code (printed on the housing – back, side, or bottom) must be accessible.
NotesNOTE: If the QR code is damaged or illegible, the P2P ID can be manually entered. This ID can be obtained by scanning the QR code with any QR reader, or from the camera's web interface (Configuration → Basic Settings → P2P).

3. PoE Camera – Connection and Mobile Setup

3.1 Physical Connection Diagram

The cameras are connected to the internet using a Power Over Ethernet (PoE) compliant switch or injector connected to your router. The camera may also be powered using a DC12V power adapter.

3.2 Mobile App Pairing (QR Code Scan)

① Launch the AView app and sign in (or create an account).
② Tap the + button (middle of the bottom toolbar).

③ Scan the QR code located on the camera body. Upon successful scan, the device details appear automatically.

④ Enter a descriptive Device Name (e.g., Lobby PoE Cam). Tap Save. The camera is now listed in AView and ready for live streaming.

Info
If QR Code Scan Fails:
Tap Manual Input in the app, then enter the 37‑digit P2P ID (found on the camera label or web UI). Proceed with naming and saving.

4. WiFi Camera – Standalone Wireless Setup (AP Mode)

This method is for first‑time WiFi configuration when the camera is not connected to any Ethernet cable. The camera temporarily acts as a Wi‑Fi hotspot.

4.1 Physical Preparation

  1. Attach the supplied WiFi antenna to the camera.
  2. Power the camera using the DC12V adapter – do not connect the Ethernet cable.
  3. Wait for the camera to boot.
  4. Start the process within 15 minutes of power‑on.

4.2 Mobile App Configuration

The workflow differs slightly between Android and iOS. Follow the relevant subsection below.

4.2.1 Android Devices

① Launch the AView app and sign in (or create an account).
② Select "Working as WiFi router" (or equivalent wording). Enter the password of your home/office Wi‑Fi router (the network you want the camera to ultimately join).
③ The app will instruct you to connect your phone to the camera's own SSID: HSIPC-XXXXXX (default password: 12345678). Follow the system Wi‑Fi settings prompt.
④ Once connected, the app automatically transfers the home Wi‑Fi credentials to the camera. The camera then reboots and connects to your home router.
⑤ After successful configuration, assign a Device Name and tap Save. The camera appears in the AView device list.

4.2.2 iOS Devices

① Launch the AView app and sign in (or create an account).
② Select "Working as WiFi router" (or equivalent wording). A prompt appears: "Enter phone settings – WLAN". Tap it.
③ The app pauses; go to Settings → Wi‑Fi. Find the network named HSIPC-XXXXXX and connect using password 12345678.
④ Return to the AView app. It will now show "go_select_wifi_network". Tap it and select your home Wi‑Fi SSID from the list.
⑤ Enter your home Wi‑Fi password. Wait while the camera configures. After completion, name the camera and tap Save.
Warning
If it’s failed to config the WiFi through the APP, please make the hardware restore the camera and try again.

5. WiFi Camera – Ethernet‑Assisted WiFi Switch

Use this method when the camera is already connected via Ethernet and you want to transition it to wireless operation.

5.1 Physical Preparation

  1. Attach the supplied WiFi antenna to the camera.
  2. Power the camera using the DC12V adapter – connect the Ethernet cable.
  3. Wait for the camera to boot.
  4. Start the process within 15 minutes of power‑on.

5.2 Ethernet‑Assisted WiFi Switch Through Mobile App

① Initially connect the camera to your router using an Ethernet cable (PoE or DC12V). Follow the PoE camera setup (Section 3) to add it to AView via QR code.
② Tap the Settings gear (⚙️) in the top‑right corner.
③ Select "Replace the wireless network connected to the device" (or similar wording).
④ Choose your target WiFi SSID from the list, then enter the corresponding password.
⑤ Wait for the camera to switch. Once successful, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable; the camera will continue to operate over WiFi.

6. Troubleshooting Matrix

Symptom
Most Likely Cause
Solution
Camera not discovered within 15 minutes
P2P service window expired.
Reboot the camera and repeat the pairing within 15 minutes.
QR code scan does nothing
Code damaged or camera not in ready state.
Manually enter P2P ID; ensure camera is powered and connected to the Internet.
Android: cannot see HSIPC-XXXXXX
Camera not in AP mode (Ethernet plugged in).
Unplug Ethernet cable; power cycle or restore camera; wait 1 minute.
iOS: camera added but no video
P2P port blocked
Reboot router and restore the camera.
WiFi connection fails after entering password
Wrong home Wi‑Fi password or 5.8 GHz unsupported.
Re‑enter password; ensure router broadcasts 2.4 GHz SSID.
Camera often goes offline in AView
Weak Wi‑Fi signal or IP conflict.
Move camera closer to router; assign static DHCP reservation.
