Exvist HDMI Encoder: Device Manager Setup & Configuration Guide

Device Manager of Encoder

What is the Device Manager?

The Device Manager is a tool for managing EXVIST encoder decoder in your local area network, it's just designed for below features:
  1. Searching encoders in the attached network;
  2. Quickly modifying IP addresses in batch;
  3. Upgrading the latest firmware for encoders in batch;
  4. Restoring the encoder to the default factory settings;
  5. Rebooting the encoder;
  6. Modifying the password;
Info
🧙TIPS: Usually it's only designed for the above features, it's not workable to do more settings like wireless connection via Device Manager. If it's required to configure wireless connection, just go to access the encoder/decoder from Chome and navigate to network settings.

Download Device Manager

Download it from the following link
  1. EncDeviceTool_V1.05

Quick Start of Device Manager

  1. Open the file folder of EncDevice
  2. Double click "EncDeviceTool.exe" and then it will work

Notes
NOTE: If the computer prompts that the file "EncDeviceTool.exe" cannot be run, it is recommended to install this patch package "MSVBCRT_AIO_Device_Manager_Patch".

Upgrade Firmware via Device Manager

  1. Click "Refresh" -->Enter username and password at the right bottom side;
  2. Select the device-->Enter Start IP & IP Gateway-->Click "Modify"
  1. Click Tab "Configuration"-->Add Online Device or Manual Add
  2. Select the device and Browse the latest firmware(GK, MC, TV)
  3. Click "Upgrade" and it will start upgrading immediately
  4. Check "Upgrading Status" whether it's upgraded successfully
  5. Go back to "Device Search" and click "Refresh" to check whether it's upgraded to the latest version
Notes
NOTE: It's strongly recommended to do upgrading via device manager and it's under wired connection. When upgrading an encoder, it is usually recommended to follow best practices to ensure a smooth and reliable upgrade process. Here are the reasons behind the recommendations we mentioned:
  1. Upgrading via Device Manager: Upgrading the encoder's firmware through the official management interface provided by the EXVIST ensures that the correct upgrade files and processes are used. This reduces the likelihood of errors or damage to the encoder that might occur if attempting to upgrade the device through GUI directly.
  2. Wired Connection: Upgrading an encoder through a wired connection, such as an Ethernet cable, is preferred over a wireless connection for several reasons. Wired connections typically provide more stable and consistent data transfer rates compared to wireless connections. This stability can be crucial during a firmware upgrade, as any interruption in the data transfer could potentially corrupt the upgrade process, leading to encoder malfunctions or even permanent damage.
  3. Risk of Hardware Damage: Upgrading firmware directly through the graphical user interface (GUI) of the device might pose a risk of causing damage to the device, specifically the encoder unit in this case. If the upgrade process is interrupted or fails, it could potentially render the unit inoperable, requiring it to be sent back to the manufacturer EXVIST for repair and burning flash. Upgrading through a more controlled and specialized method, such as a device manager, can reduce this risk.
  4. Recovery Options: The device manager likely provides a more robust and controlled environment for firmware upgrades. If a firmware upgrade through the device manager fails or causes the unit to become non-functional, there may be additional recovery options available through the same or specified device manager interface. This could potentially mitigate the consequences of a failed upgrade and provide a pathway to restore the encoder's functionality.
